Jail Bookings
The following people were recently booked at the Fulton County Jail:
• Saul Amador, 22, Indianapolis, was taken into custody Thursday on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on an original charge of possession of cocaine. He was picked up at the Cass County Jail and held on a $2,500 surety or $500 cash bond.
• Abigail J. Shull, 23, Noblesville, was taken into custody Thursday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear in court on an original charge of driving while suspended. She was picked up at the Hamilton County Jail and held on a $150 cash bond.
Police Incidents
Slick roads
• A semi-truck driven by Kenneth Smith slid off the roadway and into a field around 12 a.m. Thursday at State Road 14 and County Road 100 West. Medics and a tow truck were requested as a result.
• At 12:26 a.m. Thursday, police received a report that two semi-trucks were unable to be driven up a hill in the area of State Road 14 and County Road 200 West. The state highway department was contacted for assistance.
• At 5:22 a.m. Thursday, police received a report of a vehicle slide-off at U.S. 31 and Wabash Avenue. With another close call, Wabash Avenue was temporarily closed and the county highway department was contacted to improve conditions.
• At 5:32 a.m. Thursday, police received a report that a semi-truck and roughly five other vehicles were blocking traffic as the result of a slide-off at County Road 450 North and Old U.S. 31.
• At 6:02 a.m. Thursday, a man driving at county roads 250 East and 550 South reported he was stuck between two inclines.
Animal call
• Shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, a Kewanna woman reported that a neighbor's dog was loose and attacked her dog. Animal control subsequently issued the owner a citation and prepared a bite report.
Wrecks
• A vehicle driven by Chanse Baldwin hit a concrete beam on the side of the road around 8 a.m. Thursday at County Road 750 South and Meridian Road.
• A semi-truck driven by John Kirchhoff, 72, of Manitou Beach, Mich., and a car driven by Mark Beck, 84, of Kewanna, collided around 10 a.m. Thursday at U.S. 31 and Sixth Street. A southbound lane of the highway was temporarily closed for cleanup and investigation.
• At 9:19 p.m. Thursday, a passerby reported that a crashed Chevrolet Silverado was unoccupied in the area of county roads 500 South and 225 West.
Theft
• At 2:22 p.m. Thursday, police received a report about the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle at 9151 W. 650 North, Culver.
Suspicious
• At 3:41 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported that three juveniles walking in the 1300 block of Monroe Street appeared as though they were going to mess with a vehicle in the area. Their parents reportedly arrived on scene agitated, believing there was no wrongdoing. Police records indicate that they were able to talk things out with the caller.
• At 8:29 p.m. Thursday, police received a report of possible gunshots in the area of Northgate Apartments that were later determined to be fireworks. The individual who had fired them off was advised of the city's ordinance regarding fireworks.
Customer issue
• Shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, officer assistance was requested due to a reportedly belligerent customer at the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center, 1540 Wentzel St.
Ditched
• Shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, police received a report that a driver ditched a passenger in the area of U.S. 31 and County Road 450 North. That passenger was subsequently provided courtesy transport to Argos.
