Kewanna native Brian Troutman promotes first comedy and music event for hometown
Clown Tower Comedy is bringing fun and entertainment to rural Fulton County on Aug. 17, with Comedy and Music at Lake Bruce Garage, 991 N. Main St., Kewanna. The event features three comedians starting at 7 p.m., and special musical guest, local artist Brodie Z at 8:30 p.m.
The event is a first in the area that Clown Tower Comedy promoter, Brian Troutman, a Kewanna native, says he hopes to do more of in the future. One unique aspect to the Lake Bruce show, Troutman said, is having the live music entertainment as the grand finale for the event by local musician Brodie Z, also known as Ezekiel Vasquez in the Winamac area.
This is also Vasquez's first local show. Touring across the United States, for the past few years Vasquez had been keeping busy with his latest band, Chin Up, Kid. Vasquez said although their most recent show in Dallas, TX was sold out, he's taking a break from the band life and bringing his music career closer to home, working on producing more content under his stage name Brodie Z. Vasquez said after pushing out some new Brodie Z music that he's been sitting on for the past few years, its been a positive response from sales with Apple Music and Spotify.
Among the other entertainers on Aug. 17, comedian Max Tidey will be traveling from Buchanan, MI to share his wit. Working in the comedy industry professionally for the past eight years, comedy is something that's been in Tidey's life since childhood. Chasing his passion by working for various comedy clubs in cities Grand Rapids, MI and South Bend, IN the past five years, Tidey has been producing his own content, and expanding his travel for events like regional talents, and even well known acts, like their last Clown Tower show that featured Ryan Niemiller from America's Got Talent. Tidey said although Clown Tower Comedy has been producing more large-scale, high-profile comics, keeping a balance between nationally known acts and local artists is also important to him.

Dean Jernigan will also be at the event sharing the stage with the other performers. The Indiana-based comedian has wore many hats in his entertainment career, previously being the host to the radio show "Coffee with Dean" for a local radio station before trading mics from the studio to the stage. "I decided radio was paying way too much, and I decided to go into a field that pays significantly less," Jernigan joked. "Truthfully, I had wanted comics to come on as guests and figured doing open mics would be the best way to meet comics. I ended up falling in love with stand up."

Also gracing the stage is regional comedian legend Mark Struck. Tickets to the event are $25, with one free drink included with each ticket. Clown Tower promoter, Troutman, said that food will also be available by BroCo BBQ, who will be serving barbeque favorites like pulled pork, brisket, pulled pork nachos, and brisket mac and cheese. Troutman says the event is aimed at those 21 and older, but is open to all ages for anyone wanting to see the comedy and music.
Text 269-362-5551 for ticket purchases. Troutman says with August being just around the corner and only a little more than 100 tickets being made available, the sooner you get your tickets, the better.
