Columbia Elementary School receives Paths to Quality Level 3 rating

Columbia Elementary School is continuing to expand the horizons for early childhood education in Fulton County.

Prior to starting their preschool Columbia Principal Jason Snyder said he and many of his staff members, noticed the need for high-quality education in the area.

Snyder said after various testing by Indiana's statewide quality rating and improvement system for early care and education, Columbia Elementary recently received Paths to Quality Level 3.

Snyder said research has shown that the most important time for growth and development is from birth to age five. Because of this, high-quality early childhood programs are vital in preparing children for future success in school, work, and life.

In order to improve the quality of child care programs, states across the country have been using Quality Rating and Improvement Systems, such as Indiana's statewide quality rating and improvement system for early care and education, Paths to QUALITY.

The ratings give families an easy-to-recognize symbol, making the difficult decision of choosing preschool and child care easier.

Paths to Quality has also opened more doors for local families, by providing funding options to those who qualify.

Snyder says he's hopeful for the future. Synder also credited his staff for helping bring the preschool to the level it's at today.
