The annual Fulton Fun Day Festival on Saturday, Aug. 3, is fast approaching, and the Fulton-Liberty Lions Club promises a jam-packed day of fan favorites along with a few new activities.
Kicking off the festivities is a mushball tournament and Lions Breakfast at the Park, both beginning at 8 a.m. The Lions Club breakfast is served through 10 a.m.
The 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m., and the library book sale and art show runs from 9 a.m.-noon.
Food vendors will be available in the park at 11 a.m., but festival-goers looking for a snack beforehand can stop by the Lions Club popcorn stand at 10:30 a.m. The stand is open through 1 p.m.
The parade, honoring first responders this year, begins at noon with a flyover by Parkview Health's Samaritan helicopter. It is hoped that the helicopter will be able to land on the grounds for festival-goers to get a closer look.
Parade entries are needed, and forms are available at the Fulton library or may be obtained by contacting Linda Wade at 574-835-6604.
Detours for the parade will be in place from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Drivers from the north on Indiana 25 will possibly have two detours – one at County Road 600 South if bridge repair on Indiana 25 is still ongoing. There will be an officer at the intersection to manage the traffic pattern.
Drivers coming from the north on Indiana 25 will turn right on County Road 600 South, turn left on County Road 250 West, proceed to Indiana 114 and turn left, continuing to Fulton with a right turn onto Indiana 25 South.
Drivers coming from the south on Indiana 25 will turn left on Indiana 114, right on County Road 250 West, right on County Road 600 South and proceed to Indiana 25 and turn left.
Drivers coming from the west on Indiana 114 will turn left onto County Road 250 West and follow the above directions if wanting to go north on Indiana 25.
Opening at 1 p.m. after the parade are a paintball trailer, craft vendors and informational tables, a pedal tractor pull, a chalk art contest, bounce houses, a dunk tank and a Taekwondo demonstration.
Other activities include a horseshoe tournament at 1:30 p.m., free bingo at 2 p.m., an Adam Gundrum concert from 2-4 p.m., princess makeovers from 2:30-4 p.m., Mark's Ark Animals from 3:30-4:30 p.m., free throw and 3-point contests at 4 p.m., a magic show from 4:30-5:30 p.m., a middle school 3-on-3 tournament at 4:30 p.m., a euchre contest at 5 p.m., a corn hole tournament at 6 p.m., high school and open 3-on-3 tournament at 6 p.m. and a Eel River Band concert from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
New events for the festival include a baseball/softball throw from 2-5 p.m., a volleyball tournament at 3 p.m. and bingo for ages 14 and younger, with prizes, at 6:30 p.m.
