To help support the HeARTery in its efforts to offer events that nourish the heart and mind, the public is asked to consider donating, volunteering, attending events and renting the venue space.

The HeARTery in Kewanna has big plans for next year and is seeking the public's help to make them happen.

Along with continuing to entertain and educate in 2025, the nonprofit's board says it also hopes to install a kitchenette and purchase signage for the venue space. It also is launching a YouTube channel, which will feature community stories that "nourish the heart and mind" and allow for livestreams of some events.

"We are grateful for the support of Northern Indiana Community Foundation grants, the Indiana Arts Commission, and freewill donations that have helped us provide events at no cost, as well as maintain and update the building gifted by Diane Tesler, a founder of the organization," the board states in an email.

"We hope you had the chance to participate in one of the events or ongoing programs this past year," it continues. "The remarkable space, available for rent, has been utilized for musical concerts, art displays, theatrical performances, mystery dinners, socials, talent show, storytelling and poetry readings, dances, educational programs, weddings, meetings, parties, and even an escape room. Throughout the year, you can enjoy yoga, experience Tai Chi, attend the weekly Gathering, or even Express Yourself with creative activities.

The HeARTery Inc. was established as a nonprofit organization in 2016. The venue, located at 414 E. Main St., is a rescued Baptist Church built in the mid-1800s and purchased by Tesler in 2015. The large interior room hosts performances, meetings, community gatherings and programs. A spacious yard is used for outdoor events and programs.
