Beverly Bowen, 80, of Peru, was pronounced dead Monday after being struck by a vehicle driven by James Sturgill, 53, of Wabash.
Police say an 80-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle Monday in Peru.
Troopers from the Indiana State Police Peru District and deputies from the Miami County Sheriff's Office responded at approximately 5 p.m.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a 2007 Ford Focus driven by James Sturgill, 53, of Wabash, was traveling east on Wabash Road, east of Paw Paw Pike in Peru. Sturgill’s vehicle struck a pedestrian, later identified as Beverly Bowen, 80, of Peru.
Despite life-saving measures, Bowen was pronounced dead at the scene. Sturgill did not sustain any injuries, police said.
Investigation is ongoing. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash, however, toxicology results are pending at this time.
