An era is coming to a successful close for Rochester Fire Chief Tom Butler.
Butler is retiring on June 28. After 16 and a half years in his position, Butler now stands as Rochester's longest serving fire chief.
Chasing his passion for helping others throughout his life, Butler says the time he has served at the Rochester Fire Station has been an honor.
Finding his niche while serving in the military, Butler said joining the Rochester Fire Department felt like a natural transistion three decades ago.
Now making a new transistion into retirement, Butler hopes to still continue serving the community outside of the fire station in the future.
Thankful for the support of Rochester Mayor Trent Odell, as well as the support from previous Rochester mayors Ted Denton and Mark Smiley, Butler says things already look promising.
Butler is thankful for his successful careerwith the Rochester Fire Department.
Now he'll turn the page to the next chapter in life. Butler looks forward to his retirement but there will be things he'll miss.
