A Rochester man is in stable condition after he was found on Sunday, July 14, lying on U.S. 35 near Winamac with injuries consistent to being struck by a vehicle.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department reported that Gage Morris, 21, of Knox, had self-reported about striking something unknown in the roadway after the initial report was made about the injured man. Police soon determined that the two calls were related.
Police discovered that a pedestrian had been walking southbound on U.S. 35 around midnight near County Road 250 North in Pulaski County when he had been struck by a southbound vehicle.
When emergency responders arrived to the scene they found Joshua Jaeger, 40, of Rochester, in need of medical assistance. Jaeger was stabilized for transport and flown to a hospital for treatment, where he's been listed in stable condition. Pulaski County EMS and the Winamac Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
The incident is still being investigated by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.
