A woman is facing charges after an alleged stabbing took place in Warsaw during an argument.
Genesis Teran, 22, of Warsaw, was arrested Monday on charges of domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury and domestic battery in the presence of a child under 16, both Level 6 felonies, and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
It was reported that on Aug. 12, Warsaw Police Department officers were dispatched after a report of a fight in progress. According to a probable cause affidavit, when officers arrived they discovered a victim who had been stabbed and appeared to have a laceration on their left forearm. Officers also reported observing blood droplets throughout the living room, hallway, bathroom and bedroom. It also was noted that four minors had been in the residence when the stabbing occurred.
A witness at the scene reported to officers that Teran had been in the bedroom arguing with the victim. Soon after a second person entered the room, they claimed Teran escalated the situation by picking up a knife and stabbing the victim. Although the other witness in the room had confirmed the story, they told officers they did not actually witness the alleged stabbing.
The victim told officers they had tried to leave for work when Teran became aggressive. The victim claimed Teran had started a heated argument before striking them on the head and biting them three times. Officers noted the victim had scratching and bruising on their head and bite marks, along with the laceration to their forehead.
When the victim tried to prevent further physical assault by Teran they said that's when the alleged stabbing happened. Teran admitted to officers that she had been arguing with the victim in the bedroom. After a physical struggle, Teran admitted she had cut the victim with a small knife she had had in her bedroom.
Teran was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 preliminary bond.
