
Dora M. Miller, 83, of Palestine, Indiana, passed at 2:26 pm, Monday, April 7, 2025 at her residence.
Dora was born on Oct. 18, 1941 in Leiters Ford, Indiana to the late Loren Wayne and Mary Elizabeth (Dillman) Kelley. She married on Jan. 23, 1976 to Dr. Robert E. Miller DVM, who preceded her in death on March 29, 2001.
Dora graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1959. She later pursued higher education, becoming a food inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where she dedicated her career until retiring in 1996. Dora was an active member of the Akron Church of God, where she ran the food pantry for many years, serving her community with care and compassion.
She found joy in puzzle books, gardening, mowing, and spending time outdoors, especially feeding the birds. Dora had a special fondness for children, and her face would light up whenever she saw them. She cherished her moments with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories together. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling and antiquing with her sister, Betty. The two shared an inseparable bond, often described as "two peas in a pod."
She is survived by her sons Larry Swick and Lloyd and wife Laureen Swick both of Palestine; grandchildren LJ, Tim, Terry, Ashley, and Steven; 14 Great Grandchildren; a Great Great Granddaughter and one on the way; sister Betty and husband Fred Wood of Rochester, former husband Ronald Swick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Steven, brothers Joe, Wayne, Kenneth Kelley, and sisters Maxine Jensen, Jean Adams, Esther Sainer.
Following her wishes, no service will be held at this time.
The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Indiana.
