Howard William Cords, 95, of Medaryville, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.
He was born in the family home near Francesville, IN on April 4, 1929 to the late William and Minnie [Kruger] Cords. Howard graduated from Medaryville High School in 1947.
As a young boy, he helped his dad with the farming and continued farming for his lifetime, retiring in 2021.
Howard served in the US Marine Corps from 1951-1952 before being honorably discharged. He was honored to receive a Quilt of Valor in 2017.
On June 29, 1968, Howard married his best friend and love, Judith L. “Judy” Selmer, at St. John United Church of Christ near Medaryville. He was a lifelong member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ near Francesville.
Howard bowled on several leagues and enjoyed going fox hunting with the guys. He enjoyed watching Purdue men’s basketball games on TV, playing a lot of Solitaire on the computer, and working in the shop. Howard and Judy enjoyed square dancing and going on bus tours as well as traveling to Arizona and Minnesota to see family. He was a loving husband to Judy, proud dad of Brian and Becky, and adoring grandpa of Jenna and Jaden. He delighted in all of their accomplishments and enjoyed attending all of their activities. Spending time with his family was a precious thing to do, and he dearly loved them all. Howard will be missed by many.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM EDT Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at St. James Salem United Church of Christ, Francesville with Pastor Bill McNabney officiating.
