Miss Ashlyn Foster, 22, of Kewanna

Miss Ashlyn Foster, 22, of Kewanna, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Woodlawn Hospital.

A New Year's baby, Ashlyn Elizabeth was born in Rochester to Steven Jr. and Alison S. DePoy Foster on January 1, 2002. Growing up, she shared her childhood with a brother, Austin. She graduated proudly in the class of 2020 from Rochester High School. She continued her education at Indiana University of Kokomo.

In her earlier years, Ashlyn participated in dance and gymnastics. In 2010, Ashlyn was named the Kewanna Festival Little Sweetheart. Later, she was an active member of the Rochester Royals swim club while in elementary and middle school. During middle school, she played softball. Her team never won a game until the tournament when they emerged as champions.

During her years at RHS, she was a member of the golf, tennis and swim teams. She was a captain of the golf team. During the summers, she would play in the Marshall County Junior golf league winning several awards. Ashlyn was a dedicated football manager for the Rochester Zebras. As a vibrant member of the Future Farmers of America, she earned the distinguished state degree. Ashlyn was a 10-year member of Fulton County 4-H and attended the Tippecanoe Christian Church.  She also took lessons and played the piano for several years.

With her bright and beautiful smile, Ashlyn greeted the clients and customers wherever she worked. She was kindhearted and never knew a stranger. Her smile and laugh were contagious. She always made others smile and was the life of the party.  Enjoying nature, walking trails, sky watching and photographing the sky were enjoyable hobbies. Traveling and visiting stadiums throughout the Major League Baseball American League were memorable adventures. She was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Ohio State Buckeyes and watching these games with her dad are treasured memories. Special trips with her mom included New York City, Broadway and theater visits to see Hamilton and the Lion King.

Left to cherish Ashlyn's memory are her parents, Steve and Alison Foster; brother, Austin Foster and wife Ali of Argos; maternal grandparents, Harold and Edith DePoy of Winamac; paternal grandfather, Steve Foster, Sr. of Rochester; aunts and uncles: Dustin and Elizabeth Foster, Andrew and Rebecca DePoy, Anthony and Rachel DePoy; several great aunt and uncles and cousins; feline companions, Chubs and Natty; canine companions, Charlie and Ruger; and Gus, her canine nephew.
