Waneta Joan (Haag) Coughenour, 90, of rural Argos, passed away July 2, 2024, at 6:05 a.m. at her residence. On July 10, 1933, in St. Joseph County, she was born to Elmer and Lucille (Lathrop) Haag. Waneta lived in the Argos community since 1963, having lived in Tyner prior.
On July 11, 1951, she married Clark E. Coughenour and together they shared the next 46 years until his passing on Aug. 30, 1997.
Waneta was a housewife/homemaker and was a graduate of Tyner High School, with the Class of 1951.
Waneta is survived by her daughter, Jean Wolfe and husband David, of Plymouth; son, David Coughenour and wife Amy, of Alger, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Frank Haag and Russell Haag; and sisters, Maxine Angel, Louella Preston, Virginia Rensberger and Leona Boswell
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 10 a.m.–noon at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Fishburn. Burial is at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
