
The Indiana State Fairgrounds announcing a successful completion of the second season of indoor track and field events at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion.
This season featured premier competitions, including the Big Ten Conference Championships and the NCAA Division II National Championships, showcasing top-tier athletic talent and drawing enthusiastic crowds.
Cindy Hoye, Executive Director of the Indiana State Fairgrounds, reflected on the season's achievements saying, "We are thrilled with the success of our second season at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. The facility has proven to be an outstanding venue for indoor track and field, providing athletes with an exceptional environment to compete. We are grateful to all the teams, coaches, and fans who made this season memorable."
The Pavilion's second season continued to build on the high standards set during its inaugural year. The Big Ten Conference Championships brought together the best collegiate athletes from one of the nation's most competitive conferences, while the NCAA Division II National Championships highlighted the depth of talent in Division II athletics.
Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships:
- 32 of the 36 facility records for Fall Creek Pavilion were broken
- 12 Big Ten Championships records were broken.
- Axelina Johansson of Nebraska set a Swedish National Record in the women’s shot put with a throw of 19.31m (63’4.25”).
- Amanda Moll’s world-leading pole vault from the Big Ten Championships was ratified as the all-time top collegiate women’s pole vault, with her identical twin sister Hana Moll holding the number two all-time collegiate performance from the same night.
NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships:
- 12 NCAA Division II National Championship meet records were tied or broken.
- Joy Udo-Gabriel set the meet and DII indoor records in the Women’s 60m.
- Alexis Brown from Lenoir-Rhyne sets a meet record in the Women’s 200m and becomes the only DII female athlete to run sub-23 twice in one weekend.
- In the Men’s 4x400m Relay, Pittsburg St. broke the meet record that previously stood for 30 years, with the top three teams surpassing the previous mark.
The Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships were graced by the presence of legendary athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who attended the event and inspired athletes with her participation. “I was incredibly proud to witness the remarkable talent and determination on display at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. The warm hospitality was outstanding, and the world-class atmosphere was truly commendable. Track and field has the power to change lives, and events like this inspire the next generation to push beyond their limits and chase their dreams" said Joyner-Kersee.
