Rogelio “Roger” Ordonez Tapnio, 83 years old, of Kokomo, passed away Tuesday July 30, 2024, at his home.
He was born in Pampanga, Philippines, on May 2, 1941, the son of the late Emilio Ocampo Tapnio and Geronima (Ordonez) Tapnio. On June 25, 1967, he married Teresita Uy in San Fernando, Philippines, and she survives.
Roger received his medical degree from the University of the East, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC) College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines. He had a passion for helping others and served as an Internal Medicine Physician for 37 years. Roger was a devout Catholic man. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo and a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed watching old country Western shows and Indiana University basketball. Roger was a quiet and reserved man who prioritized time spent with his family.
He was the beloved husband of Teresita U. Tapnio and the loving father of Rogelio U. (Celiza) Tapnio, Raymond Tapnio, and Joel Alexander Tapnio. He was a devoted grandfather to Raphael (Erin) Tapnio and Chloe Tapnio. Rogelio is also survived by his siblings: Teresita Reyna, Luz Tapnio, Lillian Tapnio, Fredesvinda Tan, Renato Tapnio, Dr. Lysandro Tapnio, Eleanor Allen, and Dr. Cezar Tapnio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dr. Filipinas Vital, Angelina Tapnio-Mallari; brothers, Emilio Tapnio, Jr., Armando Tapnio.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday August 3, 2024, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 County Rd. 200 W., Kokomo, IN 46902.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm on Saturday at the church with Rev. Fr. Peter Vanderkolk, the celebrant.
