4-H public speaking competition

Local 4-H members participated in the first unit-wide public speaking contest in Albion recently.

The competition was on Monday, February 17th hosted by the Illinois Extension office serving Lawrence, Edwards, Richland, Wabash and Wayne counties.

Eight youths from the five county unit were involved.

Speeches ranged from poetry recitations to formal speeches and were judged on a beginning and advanced level.

Titus Anderson of Lawrence County had the fifth best speech awarded by the judging.

The top five are eligible to advance to the Illinois 4-H Public Speaking contest on Saturday, April 26th at Champaign as delegates for their counties.

Naomi Anderson was also selected as a state fair delegate for Lawrence County.
