The city of Lawrenceville is in good fiscal condition.
That was the assessment of city auditor Curt Bensen of Kemper CPA to the city council Thursday night at their monthly session at City Hall.
Mayor David Courtney added that it was reassuring to hear that the city is on solid financial ground and that the council is continuing to be good stewards of the taxpayer dollars.
No action was taken on the ongoing city golf cart usage issue.
A proposed ordinance that would govern the matter was presented to council members at the meeting for their study and review.
The ordinance could be voted as soon as April.
The mayor did announce that longtime city police officer James Lyle is retiring after 27 years with the department.
The police commission will review and interview replacement candidates after they are tested and background checked.
They will then make a hiring recommendation to the mayor and city council to fill the vacancy.
