The National Weather Service (NWS) and local and area fire officials are continuing to warn Lawrence County and other residents about the dangers of outside fire.
The continued mild temperatures, occasionally gusty winds, dry foliage and low humidity over the next few days have resulted in increased fire risk.
Units of the Christy Fire Protection District were called out Monday when an outdoor burn pile fire spread to a nearby rural field, but it was contained with little appreciable damage.
In an unrelated incident, the Lawrence-Allison Fire Protection District (LAFPD) was mobilized Monday after a farm tractor caught fire in a rural field.
Incidents of brush fires have led some southwestern Indiana counties to issue burn bans.
The NWS does forecast rain to move into the area this weekend.
