51st District Republican State Senator Chapin Rose has indicated he will file a package of proposed legislation aimed at stemming the tide of illegal drugs being smuggled into Illinois state prisons and to protect workers and staff at those facilities.

Rose told GIANT-FM WAKO News in a phone interview Thursday that the legislation comes after both he and State Representative Adam Niemerg made a visit to both the Lawrence County Correctional Center near Sumner and the Crawford County Correctional Center near Robinson.

The legislation includes such actions as the use of drug dogs inside prison facilities among others to help with the drug influx.

It will also include an extensive public safety package aimed at the safety of correctional officers and other staff and workers at those locations.
