Sumner City Council approves new sign for new city hall location

A new sign is coming soon for the new Sumner City Hall.

A new sign is coming soon for the new Sumner City Hall.

The city council Tuesday night approved $3000 to create a 4′ by 3′ by 6″ thick marble structure to be placed in front of the new location on South Christy Street.  It will be made by Adams Memorials from Olney, and will take about 45 to 60 days to install. Once that occurs and the new flagpole is put up, Sumner Mayor Betty Brian says that a formal dedication and ribbon cutting will take place.

The city is also ordering a bronze 22″ by 18″ plaque that will be placed outside the front of the new city hall. It is to honor a generous $42,000 donation made by the Charles and Imogene Marx family for sidewalk repairs in the city. The cost of the plaque is about $1200.

The city Safe Streets sidewalk repair project is anticipated to begin on Monday July 15. It is expected to be a 65 day project with completion date of November 15.
