Some good news from Knox County Indiana. The Vincennes Utilities Service reports that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially certified the Wabash River levee at Vincennes. The announcement made to the Vincennes City Council this week. The news culminates work that began back in 2006 when FEMA ruled that the structure did not meet federal standards after being evaluated. Over $10 million from various sources including government and private entities have been used over the years to bring the levee into compliance. The levee protects eastern Lawrence County from flooding, as well.
