Arthur Lawrence Yost, age 96, formerly of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 02, 2024 at the ARC of Normal in Normal, Illinois

Arthur Lawrence Yost, age 96, formerly of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 02, 2024 at the ARC of Normal in Normal, Illinois. He was born on February 06, 1928 in West Liberty, Illinois, the son of James Andrew and Veronica Mary (Huss) Yost. He married Vickie Lynn Bachman on August 03, 1976, and she preceded him in death.

Arthur served his country in the United States Navy, during WWII. He worked over 50 years in the oil drilling industry, starting at entry level and working up to drilling superintendent and later becoming Vice President of Operations. He worked with several different companies throughout his career, last working for Smith Drilling Company in Lawrenceville, Illinois. His memberships included the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 28.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; five brothers; two sisters; and two sons, David Yost and Donald Yost.

Survivors include four children, Sharon Uhlir and husband, Dan of Bloomington, Illinois, Janice Weidner and husband, Robert of Clay City, Illinois, Thomas Yost and wife, Carol of Normal, Illinois, and Elaine Gill and husband, David of McLean, Illinois; one sister, Freda Keller of West Liberty, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at
11:00 AM CST at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 1006 Collins Avenue in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the service hour of 11:00 AM CDT at the church. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery, with military rites. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), or Wounded Warriors Project. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
