Betty Lou Winters, age 80 of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Aperion in Bridgeport. She was born at her family’s home near Patrolia on June 10, 1942, to Edgar Powers and his wife Mildred Pauline (Bearly) Powers. On October 3, 1975, Betty married Donald Lee Winters, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1993. Betty was a “helper”. She truly wanted to help everyone she could. That passion was seen in the work she did for over 40 years as a CNA at numerous healthcare facilities within the local area. Betty was also a homemaker to her family and enjoyed collecting Native American items and porcelain dolls. Surviving family includes: three children- Tony Morgan of Bridgeport, Tammy Scott and husband Brad of St. Francisville, and Donald Lee Winters, Jr. and his long-time companion Rebecca Otterson of Enfield: one step-daughter- Angie Tougaw and husband Thomas of Mt. Carmel: nine grandchildren: eleven great-grandchildren: her best friend and helper for over 30 years- John Mack of Bridgeport: her special fur buddy- Charlotte: and three special nieces- Bobbi, Deanie, and Karen all of Indiana. She was preceded in death by: her parents-Edgar and Mildred Powers: husband- Donald Winters, Sr.: two brothers- Paul Powers and Ronnie Powers: and four sisters- Lois Drummond, Mary Millsap, Mary Karns, and Naomi Perry. Visitation will be held at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at noon. Follow the funeral services at noon, burial will be in Sumner Cemetery.
