Cecil "Ray" Lockhart, 73, of Vincennes, IN, formerly of Robinson, IL, died on September 25, 2023. He was born on August 15, 1950, in Oblong, IL, the son of Ralph ; Doris (Reinholdt), both of whom preceded him in death. He married Janet Rich on November 8, 1974, and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Nichols. He is survived by his sons ; daughters-in-law, Brian ; Michelle Lockhart and Nathan ; Tracey Lockhart; by his grandchildren, Hans Lockhart, Collette Lockhart, Preston Lockhart, and Sydney Lockhart; by his brother ; sister-in-law, Tony ; Lisa Lockhart; by his close friend, Angie Jenkins; as well as several nieces and nephews. Raised in Oblong, IL, Ray graduated from Oblong High School in 1969, where he proudly represented his school on the football field. After high school, Ray moved to Robinson, where he lived for many years and planted deep roots. A hard worker, Ray enjoyed a fulfilling career at Briggs and later at Toyota in Princeton, IN, where he would eventually retire. Beyond his professional life, Ray was known for his handyman skills, as he was always ready to fix that which needed mending. An avid sports enthusiast, Ray never missed an opportunity to watch any sports game, especially when his beloved St. Louis Cardinals were playing. However, these games couldn't hold a candle to those played by his grandchildren. He took every opportunity to travel to watch his grandchildren play sports and derived immense joy from their accomplishments. In short, he was their biggest fan. Beyond his immediate family, Ray also loved his dear friend, Angie Jenkins. The two of them shared many adventures, often traveling around to try new restaurants in the area. Their friendship was one of mutual respect and shared interests, adding a rich layer of companionship in the twilight of Ray's life. Never one to shy away from an animated discussion, Ray would readily engage in friendly debates, a trademark we will all surely miss for years to come. As we step back and look at the fullness of his 73 years, we can't help but recall the trademark phrase of the great Cardinals announcer, Jack Buck: "That's a winner!" A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. (CST) on Monday, October 2nd, at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, IL.
