Charles Edward Oakley, age 86, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois.
Charles Edward Oakley, age 86, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. He was born on January 21, 1938 in Addison, Ohio, the son of Marion and Mary Alice (Martin) Oakley.
Charles worked on the railroad, in the maintenance and laundry departments at the United Methodist Village, for Resco Vault in Lawrenceville, and as a security guard for Pinkashaw. His hobbies included being outdoors, fishing, camping, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include five children, Cindy Rothrock of Sellersburg, Indiana, Carol Oakley of Madison, Indiana, Shannon Phillips and husband, Travis of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Charles Gene Oakley of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Michael Oakley of Lawrenceville, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the service hour of 3:00 PM CST at the funeral home.
