Donald Ray Lytle, age 86, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, December 07, 2024 at his residence. He was born on June 27, 1938 in Bridgeport, Illinois, the son of Fred E. and Audrey (Shinkle) Lytle. He married Martha Brunn on July 02, 1960, and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2024.
Don served his country in the United States Army. He was a teacher for 30 plus years, with schools including Sumner, Bridgeport, Petrolia, Noble, and Petty. His memberships included the Sumner Community Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed camping, fishing, mowing, raising Angus cattle, as well as attending fairs and cattle shows.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Wanda Taylor.
Survivors include four children, Donna Bandy and husband, Bill of Sumner, Illinois, Susan McDonald and husband, Jon of Lawrenceville, Illinois, John Lytle and wife, Tracy of Sumner, Illinois, and Anji Vandermark of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two brothers, Grover Lytle and wife, Nina of Tennessee and George Lytle and wife, Lida of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Calantha Pizzola and husband, George of Clinton, Indiana, Clinton Bandy and wife, Irene of Olympia, Washington, Caleb Bandy and wife, Lindsay of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Cordell Bandy of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Roxanne Kidd and husband, Jeff of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Jessie Stone and husband, Brian of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Jacob McDonald and wife, Christina of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Kaylee Davis and husband, Ed of Olney, Illinois, Wesley Lytle and wife, Chelsy of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Steele Lytle and wife, Emma of Bridgeport, Illinois, Kenlee Lytle of Sumner, Illinois, Kamee Lytle of Sumner, Illinois, Lindsey Brooking and husband, Stewart of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Tanner Sparks of Vincennes, Indiana, Kohl Vandermark and wife, Jane of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Graham Vandermark of Lawrenceville, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Magnus, and Mayda Pizzola, Rhett, Zoey, and Emma Clodfelter, Dane Stone, Gauge and Tucker Phillips, Julian, Lynnlea and Phoebe McDonald, Trainer and Granger Ginder, Carson and Colton Davis, Shain, Bryton, Wesley, Adilynn and Samuel Mack; and one great-great-grandchild, Grayson Pizzola.
Private funeral services will be conducted.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Jr. Fair Livestock or the Sumner Community Church.
