Dorothy Jane Hensley, age 79 of St. Francisville, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Mt. Carmel at Wabash General Hospital.
Dorothy Jane Hensley, age 79 of St. Francisville, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Mt. Carmel at Wabash General Hospital. She was born January 26, 1945, in Vincennes, IN to James and Mary (Cogdill) Fox.
On August 24, 1968, Jane married Carl Hensley in St. Francisville. For over 50 years, Jane and Carl raised their family and truly cherished the life they lived together. Carl unexpectedly passed away on February 25, 2019.
As a young woman, Jane graduated from St. Francisville High School then went to cosmetology college and became a licensed beautician. She operated her own hair salon for many years until she became a florist. Many knew her from her flower shop, The Village Flower Shoppe, that she operated in St. Francisville.
Jane had always been very active in the American Legion Post 947 alongside Carl. After Carl’s passing, Jane dedicated her time to the St. Francisville Senior Center.
Surviving family includes: her two sons- Matt Hensley and his wife Beth of Mahomet, IL and Brock Hensley and his wife Ashley of Newburgh, IN; four grandchildren- Chloe Hensley, Rylan Jones, Emma Hensley, and Anna Hensley; two sisters- Linda Kohlhause and Betsy Hershey; and one brother- Ron Fox.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- James and Mary Fox; her husband- Carl Hensley; and three brothers- Jake Fox, Sam Fox, and Monty Fox.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Free Methodist Church of St. Francisville from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Francisville. Cunningham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
