Edgar ‘Junior’ J. Holmes, age 80, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away on Monday, July 03, 2023 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on May 26, 1943 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of William E. and Mary Theodore (Young) Holmes. He was married to Cecile Ann Wolfe, and she survives. Junior worked for CSX from 1965, until his retirement in 2002. He was also a Tree Mechanic. He was a past member of the Lawrenceville Moose. His hobbies included fishing, mushroom hunting, deer hunting, playing cards, cruising, traveling, and gardening. Preceding him in death were his parents; eight brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include his wife, Ann; three children, Cheryl Ann Wilson and husband, Willy of Bridgeport, Illinois, William Michael Holmes and wife, Lynn of Bridgeport, Illinois, and Brian Jennings Holmes and wife, Teresa of Sumner, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, with the anticipated arrival of another one; animals, Holly, Tank, and Little Bit; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM CDT at the Emmons-Macey ; Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM CDT at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the restoration of the St. Francisville Ball Park, with checks being made out to Brittany Hall.
