Effie V. Calvert, age 86 of Lawrenceville and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, April 17, 2023. She was born in Bridgeport on July 4, 1936, to James F. Paddick and his wife Mary Alice (Blair) Paddick. Effie had maintained a dual membership with the 7th Day Adventist in Noble and the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Lawrenceville. She was always a hard worker. That attitude and drive was seen as she worked for many years as a restaurant manager. An interesting fact about Effie…Effie’s middle name is Vondola. It was given to her by an Oklahoma Tribal Chief. It means “quiet running water.” Surviving family includes: one daughter- Peggy Scherer and husband Scott of Lawrenceville: two sons- Jeff Calvert of Lawrenceville and Robert Calvert of Fort Worth, TX: one sister- Jean Rankin of Bridgeport: one sister-in-law- Alice Paddick of Lawrenceville: two grandchildren- Erin Vest and fiancé Cody Phillips and Addison Ballew: and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents- James and Mary Alice Paddick: three brothers- Russell, Farrell, and Lowell Paddick: three sisters- Mary Alice Whipkey, Ailene Dennison, and Audrey Pettigrew. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. in Waggoner Cemetery north of Chauncey. Cunningham Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
