Ellen Elizabeth (Schwabe) Schwingle, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem, Illinois.

Ellen Elizabeth (Schwabe) Schwingle, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem, Illinois. She was born on April 10, 1941 in Richland Center, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Ruth (Miller) Schwabe. She married David D. Schwingle on June 15, 1968 at the Pulaski Presbyterian Church in Muscoda, Wisconsin, and he preceded her in death on January 07, 2022.

Ellen was an elementary school teacher. She taught in Blue River, Muscoda, and Highland, Wisconsin; and sub taught in Kerkhoven, Minnesota and Lawrence County, Illinois. Together with her husband, David, they owned and operated a dairy farm in Wisconsin. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women and the First United Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport, Illinois. She was active in the church as a pastor’s wife in Minnesota and Illinois.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 53 years; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Schwabe; and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Schwingle and Rolland Glass.

Survivors include two daughters, Elynn Anderson and husband, Christopher of Vincennes, Indiana and Eydee Bumgarner of Salem, Illinois; one brother, Philip Schwabe of Richland Center, Wisconsin; one brother-in-law, Milo Schwingle and wife, Susan of Cuba City, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law, Ann Schwingle of Platteville, Wisconsin and Lorna Schwingle-Glass of Lomira, Wisconsin; four granddaughters, Dalayna Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Dalyla Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ellee Bumgarner of Salem, Illinois, and Adelynn Bumgarner of Salem, Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be conducted. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
