Era Anne Kavanaugh, 85, passed away on Wednesday June 21, 2023 in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on June 9, 1938, in Calhoun, Illinois to Tice and Grace (Perry) Walker. A hairdresser by profession, Anne spent her career helping ladies look their best, and cut quite the stylish figure herself. Even more than style, it was Anne’s sense of humor that stood out. She loved a good laugh and was always the life of the party, ready with a witty comeback or a cheeky joke. No matter what the circumstances, Anne always looked on the bright side. Wherever she went, light and laughter followed. Anne was an avid reader and played a mean game of Scrabble. In her later years, as her health was fading, she took great pleasure in her Facebook community of family and friends. Her friends brought her great joy and Facebook allowed her to stay connected with the people who meant so much to her. She continued to love challenging word games and took up playing Words with Friends online. In her words, “I know some people think I am cheating (I assure you she would NEVER) but I really am that smart! HAHAHA!” Family meant everything to Anne, and she loved hers fiercely. She was blessed with strong family ties and the memories she made with each of us are priceless. We will all hold Anne in our hearts forever and treasure the memories of her love and her laughter. Her brother, Rex D. Walker, says it best…... “There is little I can say because there is so much to draw from. I am sad to lose her, but I will never forget the joy of knowing her. Many will join me in saying, “We shall not see her like again.” She is survived by: her three children- Brad Bayat (Diane Roberts) of Houston, TX, Kim Kavanaugh-Bohlen (Jerry Bohlen) of Franklin, TN and Rebecca Baldridge of North Salem, NY: her granddaughter- Isabella Bohlen of Franklin, TN: her brother- Rex (Sherry) Walker of Los Angeles, CA: and many nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents: two brothers- Dean Walker and Wallace Walker: two sisters-in-law- Bessie Jones and Betty Walker, whom she loved as sisters: her niece- Sandy Lane: two great-nephews- Anthony Scott Cundiff and Jesse Alexander; and one great great-niece Darcy Adkison. Anne asked that she be cremated and no funeral service held. Cunningham-Young Funeral Home of Lawrenceville is assisting her family with arrangements.
