Glendon Yates Casper, age 91, of rural Lawrenceville, IL passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Aperion Care Bridgeport, IL. He was born to Glendon Delmas Casper and Helenetta (Brown) Casper on February 6, 1932, in Anna, IL. Glen served many years in the Illinois National Guard and faithfully served his country in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a B.S. Degree in Agriculture. On June 30, 1954, he married Helen Joan Holly of Cobden, IL, and she preceded him in death January 29, 2003. Glen began his career with the Farmers Home Administration and later worked four years for the Sanitary Milk Cooperative in Nashville, IL. In 1961, he became affiliated with the Illini PCA in Carlinville, IL as a branch manager of the Sparta Unit and spent three years in this position. The next seven years Glen served as a loan analyst on the staff of the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of St. Louis. In 1970, he became the manager of the Wabash Production Credit Association, Lawrenceville, IL, until his retirement in 1992. Glen had many hobbies. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Florida and Louisiana and his camping trips out West. He also loved his garden, horses, pecan trees, dogs, and cats. He never met a stranger, greeting everyone with his big smile. Glen was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport, IL where he served as an Elder, Trustee, and friend to all. On May 21, 2011, he married Dolores Spires who survives. Other survivors include: daughters- Janet Casper Tamas of Robinson, IL and Martha Casper of Lawrenceville, IL; step-daughter- Debbie Pruitt of Lawrenceville, IL; step-son- David gler of Billett, IL; granddaughters- Alexay Tamas of Salem, OR and Mattie White of O’Fallon, IL; grandson- Riley White of Swansea, IL; great-granddaughter- Evie Tamas of Salem, OR; brother- Thomas Casper of University City, MO; and sister- Millicent Casper Hankla of Anna, IL. Preceding him in death were: his parents; infant son- Douglas Allen Casper; sister- Patricia Casper Winters; brother- Robert Casper; and grandson- Paul Joseph Tamas. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport, with burial in Casper Cemetery in Anna, IL at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Robert Miner will officiate. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport is handling arrangements.
