Jackie Lee Atkins, age 76 of Millington, TN, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center.
He was born April 16, 1947, in Sumner to Wilbur and Anna (Poland) Atkins. After graduating from high school, Jackie went to work at Marathon Refinery in Robinson as a machinist. In 1965, he chose to enlist with the United States Navy. He served in the Vietnam War until 1969. He earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and a Combat Action Ribbon. Surviving family includes: two sons- Brett Atkins of Lawrenceville and Cameron Atkins of Sullivan, IN: four grandchildren: one niece- Tarita Lynn Siler of Robinson: and his long-time friend- Regina Yarbrough of Millington, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Atkins. A graveside service for Jackie Lee Atkins will be held at Sumner Cemetery on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 11:00 am.
