Jacqueline ‘Jay’ Creech, age 75, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 07, 2025 at The Villa at Tuckey Lane in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on June 08, 1949 in Traverse, Michigan, the daughter of John ‘Jack’ C. and June (Niemela) Ortman. She married James Lee Creech in 1971, and he survives.
Jay was a 1967 graduate of LTHS, received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1971, and then later received her Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana State University. Her memberships included the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Pastoral
Council, Financial Council-Trustee, Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shoppe-Board Member, Eastern Star, Ladies Legion Auxiliary, and attended Bible Study.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one son, C.J. Creech.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; one son, James J. Creech; two brothers, Terry Jon Ortman and wife, Rita and James Lee Ortman and wife, Alisa; four grandchildren, Caitlin June Creech, Carmen Elaine Creech, Cody Ryan Lee Creech, and Carson John Creech; and one daughter-in-law, Christina Creech.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM CST at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 1006 Collins Avenue in Lawrenceville, Illinois 62439. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM CST at the church. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shoppe. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
