James D. Cotton, age 72, of St. Francisville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on November 05, 1950, the son of Charles F. and Patricia J. (Blevins) Cotton. He was married to Vonnie Wilson, and she survives. Jim worked for Texaco Refinery in Lawrenceville, Marathon Oil Company in Indianapolis, and was an engineer for a company in New Jersey. He was also a self-employed logger, farmer, and an outdoorsman. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping, planting trees, as well as raising turkeys, birds, cattle, and pigs. Preceding him in death was his sister, Joni Lynn Cordes. Survivors include his wife; parents of Lawrenceville, Illinois; three children, Allen (Kathy) Waller, Tina Waller Hake, and Jimmy Waller all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Gregory Cotton and wife, Jan of St. Francisville, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kurtis Waller, Logan Waller, Adam (Kary) Polston, Andy (Laura) Polston, Aaron (Carisa) Polston, and Lyndsey (Charles) Salesman; 12 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Danielle Polston, Tegan and Tucker Polston, Raya and Jacob Hackenburg, Brinkley and Boston Polston, Birdie (Micah) Hasselbring, Annalise Green, and Mattalyne and Stella Salesman; and one great-great-grandchild, Harrison Hasselbring. There will be no formal service conducted. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
