James Edward Christy, age 71 of Dennison and formerly of Sumner, passed away at home Thursday, April 4, 2024, with his daughter by his side.
He was born in Lawrenceville on May 19, 1952, to Grover Lee Christy and his wife Dorothy Viola (Mason) Christy. On February 6, 1970, James married Glenna Chitwood. For 52 years, James and Glenna raised a wonderful daughter and built a memorable life together. Glenna preceded him in death on September 20, 2022. After high school, he attended Honda Technical Training for Auto and Motorcycles. He loved anything to do with racing and fast cars. He was a sought-after mechanic all his life as he was very good at it. He loved quoting Tim Allen saying “more power”. Surviving family includes: one daughter- Nancy Storm and husband Scott of Donovan; two granddaughters- Anna Storm and Alex Storm; one sister-in-law- LaRita Christy: and four nephews- Allen Christy, Bryan Christy, Larry Wayne Christy, and Austin Christy. James was preceded in death by: his wife of 52 years- Glenna Christy; his parents- Grover and Dorothy Christy; two brothers- Larry Christy and Terry Christy; and a sister-in-law- Linda Christy. A visitation for James and Glenna will take place Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
