James Fred Allen, age 78 of Bridgeport, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

James Fred Allen, age 78 of Bridgeport, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He was born at his family’s home in Billett on June 18, 1947, to William Ivan Allen and his wife Geraldine Ann (Brunson) Allen.

On March 25, 1972, Jim married his soulmate, Cynda Lou Tucker, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bridgeport. For 53 years, Jim and Cynda raised their three children, Gene, Geri Lyn, and Jami, and watched their family grow.

He had worked as a Radiologist Technician for many years. Jim truly enjoyed spending time with his family and his home was always open to his family. He liked to go fishing and was a member of the ASRT (American Society of Radiology Technicians).

Those left to carry on Jim’s love and spirit include: his wife- Cynda Allen of Bridgeport; three children- Gene Allen and wife Jerri of Bridgeport, Geri Lyn Nestleroad and husband Rob of Terre Haute, IN, and Jami Smith and husband Jerrod of Lawrenceville; one sister- Ellen Morris of Springfield; four brothers- Ken Allen and wife Violet of Robinson, Tim Allen and wife Janet of Bicknell, IN, Bill Allen and wife Sheri of Eldorado, and Paul Allen and wife Debra of Wylie, TX; ten grandchildren- Dalton Allen and wife Alesha, Stephen Cecil and wife Hillary, Adam Cecil, Haley Leavell and husband Eric, Drake Allen, Clifton Tewell and wife Heather, Patrick Sutton, Logan Nestleroad, Hunter Nestleroad, and Bella Smith; several very loved great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Allen of Oklahoma City, OK.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow immediately at Bridgeport City Cemetery.
