Jepthia Jordan Blacketer, age 84 of Lawrenceville, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at Aperion of Vincennes. He was born September 6, 1940, in St. Francisville to Dale Blacketer and Cecil (Pierson) Blacketer Wolfe.
On February 3, 1967, Jep married Billie Jean Hartsock, in Lawrenceville, and she survives.
He was an ironworker out of the Evansville Local #103. He attended the St. Francisville Christian Church. Jep was a member of the Masonic Lodge of St. Francisville, Moose Lodge of Lawrenceville, the VFW Auxiliary, and a 32nd Degree Mason out of Danville. He served as a member of the Lawrenceville City Council for 12 years and 12 years on the St. Francisville City Council as well. Jep enjoyed golfing with his buddies and fishing, especially his trips to Kentucky Lake.
Surviving family includes: his wife of 58 years- Billie Jean Blacketer of Lawrenceville: three children- Jeff Miller and his wife Debbie of Lawrenceville, Judy Miller Baxter and husband John of Watauga, Texas, and Troy McLean and wife Rhonda of Austin, Texas: four grandsons: Jason Baxter, Jeff Baxter, Josh Baxter, and Zac McLean: three great granddaughters- Elizabeth, Natalie, and Lillian: and two great-grandsons: Ryan and Michael: three sisters- Annie Holmes, Sarah Sweitzer, and Krista Allen: and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by: his parents- Dale and Cecil Blacketer: one brother- Robert “Bob” Blacketer: four sisters- Leona Edmondson, Virginia Pavitt, Katie Wolfe, and Margaret Lukens.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Oaklawn Cemetery in St. Francisville. Cunningham-Young Funeral Home is assisting his family though their time of loss.
