Jerry Leroy Stivers, age 86 of rural Sumner, passed away at his home Friday, July 7, 2023. He was born April 29, 1937. On January 1, 1957, Jerry married Sandra Kay Henman in Shawneetown. For 65 years, they built a beautiful life together until Sandy passed away on August 4, 2022. Jerry had worked as an Accountant at Elizabeth Mitchell Children’s Center in Arkansas until he retired and moved back to Lawrence County. He had attended the Church of Christ in Olney. Jerry enjoyed singing, cars, and had coached football years ago. Surviving family includes: two sons- Richard Lee Stivers and wife Janice of rural Sumner and Randall Leroy and wife Kimberly of Montrose, MI: one brother- Larry Lee Stivers and wife Patsy of Olney: ten grandchildren- Tabbi Hubbard and husband Luke, Tausha Dyer and husband Chris, Randy Stivers, Alex Stivers, Tara Stivers, Brooke Stivers, Joshua Stivers, Jacob Stivers and wife Amanda, Jasmine Lewis and husband Jude, and Seth Leathers and wife Nicole: a host of beloved great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren: and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. A visitation time will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
