Jerry Otis Farrar, 64, of Olney, Illinois, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 in Cortez, Colorado while on vacation. Jerry was born March 14, 1959 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of James Haskell and Rosie Delle (Laslie) Farrar. He married Rose Marie Tanner on November 2, 1980 at the Bethany Christian Church in Chauncey, Illinois, and she survives. Jerry worked as an HVAC Tech for many years, but was really a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working on anything with a motor. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed riding his off-road vehicles until he was unable. He loved his grandkids and his family very much. Jerry was always happiest when he was traveling and eating out. Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh, and he will be dearly missed by all those that loved him. Jerry is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Jeffrey (Kaydi) Farrar, Judy Sanner; grandchildren, Hayli Farrar, Michael Farrar, Raphael Farrar, Gabriel Farrar, Rosie Sanner, and John Sanner; siblings, Jim Farrar of Bicknell, IN, Connie (Ambrose) Carie of Bicknell, IN. Alice (Ray) Hooten of Bicknell, IN, Tom (Annette) Farrar of St. Francisville, IL, Mike (Cheryl) Farrar of Olney, IL, Tina (Clay) Atkins of Sumner, IL; father-in-law, Leroy Tanner of Fairfield, IL; brother-in-law, Keith Tanner of Broken Arrow, OK, and 17 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Farrar and Laura Enochs; brother-in-law, Marvin Tanner. A memorial service for Jerry will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney. Memorials can be made to Richland County H.O.P.E. or Claws and Paws.
