John Scott of Texas passed away at 7:04am on January 2, 2024, after a courageous ten-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. His life was cut short far too soon and he will be missed by all who knew him. John, born in Decatur, Illinois, was the son of the late Donald P. Scott and Linda M. Scott Gardner. John was kind, quick-witted, intelligent, and hard-working. He loved hunting, bass fishing, riding his Harley, scuba diving, and restoring antiques. His passion was designing, building, and maintaining beautiful mixed reef aquariums. John’s service in the Navy was so important to him. He often said that “without my service in the Navy I would not have the life I have today”. John held an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science degree, a Bachelor of Administration in Psychology, and a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management. In addition, he held a Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) and a Certified Scrum Master Certification (CSM) as a Senior Program Manager/Business Analyst. His last employment was as a Project Manager/Business Analyst for Raba-Kistner Consultants, LLC. The family wishes to acknowledge the people who cared for John throughout his battle with cancer. Dr. Kocs of Texas Oncology, who guided John through ten years of cancer treatment; Sedro Trail Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice, who assisted John in his final days with such kindness and compassion; and to Tim and Karen Moore for ensuring that John’s final wishes were carried out. John is now reunited with his father and his dog and best buddy – Harley. John is also preceded in death by his stepfather, George D. Gardner. Surviving John are his mother, Linda Scott Gardner of Vincennes, Indiana; his sister, Sheryl Scott; his brother, Joran Scott; and his nephew, Brayden Scott. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:00 PM CST at the Sumner Cemetery.
