Joyce Ann Cook Weiss, age 89, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at StoneBridge Memory Care in Olney, Illinois.
Joyce Ann Cook Weiss, age 89, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at StoneBridge Memory Care in Olney, Illinois. She was born on April 24, 1935 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of James Roy and Vinnie (Gilliatt) Cook. She married Frank E. Weiss on July 15, 1961, and he preceded her in death on November 02, 2019.
Joyce was a Unit #10 school bus driver for 20 plus years and a homemaker. After retirement, Frank and Joyce enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Gulf Shores. She was a member of the Union Chapel Church. She loved doing yardwork, gardening, spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and six siblings, Genelle Lanker, Dale Cook, Bill Cook, Jack Cook, Dee Cook, and twin brother, Joseph Cook.
Survivors include three children, Scott Weiss and wife, Delores, Mark Weiss and wife, Kassie, and Lisa Curts and husband, Joe all of Sumner, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kaeli Bell and husband, Jacob, Macee Hill and husband, Isaac, Kierstin Billingsley and husband, Eli, Sydney Curts and fiancé, Joey Hartz, Kazia Frederick, and Briley Frederick; and three great-grandchildren, Brenden Mattingly, Lilly Bell, and Ellie Bell.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of StoneBridge Memory Care and Carle Hospice for the wonderful care of Joyce.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM CDT at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Union Chapel Church, 6659 Petrolia Lane Bridgeport, Illinois 62417.
