Julia Jeanniene Smedley, 57, of Vincennes, Indiana passed away Monday April 7, 2025 at her residence.
Julia Jeanniene Smedley, 57, of Vincennes, Indiana passed away Monday April 7, 2025 at her residence.
She was born May 1, 1967 in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Larry Smedley and Sarah (Goodlink) Taylor.
Julia grew up in Southern California where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California Irvine. She received a four -year PhD Fellowship from the University of Minnesota. After graduating she relocated to California, and later moved to Portland, Oregon. She recently moved back to this area to be closer to her mother. Julia was a strong advocate for animal rights and helped multiple charities with this devotion.
She is survived by her mother, Sarah Taylor; father, Larry Smedley; a sister, Lauren Smedley, many aunts, uncles and cousins and her two beloved cats, Nuvo and Skittles.
There will be a Time of Sharing and Remembrance on Tuesday April 15, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. There is no visitation
