June Wheatley, age 100, of Evansville, Indiana, formerly of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Protestant Nursing Home in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on November 23, 1922 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Clifton B. and Gladys (Tredway) Mayer. She married Maurice Wheatley on March 26, 1950, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2012. June was a graduate of Lawrenceville Township High School and Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. She was the Assistant Director of Nursing at the United Methodist Village. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville. Her hobbies included playing the piano, gardening, and spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and two sisters, Zulieme Brown and Joan Baker. Survivors include one son, Maurice Wheatley, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Duluth, Georgia; two daughters, Shirley Bristow and husband, Glenn of Chatham, Illinois and Nancy Miller and husband, Tom of Evansville, Indiana; four grandchildren, Nathaniel Miller, Jonathan Miller and wife, Lyndsee, Jeffrey Bristow and wife, Angie, and Michelle Chouiniere and husband, Jeffrey; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 06, 2023 at 1:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey ; Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church.
