Larry Dane Legg, age 90, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at his residence.
Larry Dane Legg, age 90, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at his residence. He
was born on August 02, 1934 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Chester Arlie and Leona (Parrott) Legg.
He married Dorothy Wright, and they had two daughters together. He married Carolyn Parrott, and they spent
many years together.
Larry served his country in the United States Army as a cook. He was a retired lifelong farmer, as well as a
buyer and hauler of livestock. He served on the Bridgeport Township School Board. Larry enjoyed attending
4-H livestock shows, collecting horns from Longhorn cattle, woodworking, listening to country music, coon
hunting, and mushroom hunting. He was fondly known by many as ‘T-Bone’.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Mervin Legg, Carold Legg, and Wayne Legg; and one
sister, Velma Wade.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa O’Brien and husband, Jim of Olney, Illinois and Jana McClain and
husband, Michael of Bridgeport, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jaleigh Hadley and husband, Chris, Tyler O’Brien
and wife, Holly, Morgan Arnold and husband, Jarad, and McKenzi McClain and fiancé, Alex Morales; and six
great-grandchildren, Kyndall Hadley, Kyson Hadley, Ilsa O’Brien, Ella Arnold, Leila Arnold, and Maya
Arnold.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday August 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM CDT at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey
Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will also be Friday 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM CDT at the funeral
home. Burial will be in the Petty Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County 4-H Fair
or Richland County 4-H Fair.
