Linda Jo Grounds, age 87 of Vincennes, IN, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Bridgepointe Health Campus. She was born December 24, 1936, in Westphalia, IN to Arthur and Laverta (Beaman) O’Haver. On October 30, 1960, Linda married Philip Grounds (Professional Engineer, Industrial Hygentist) in Oaktown Christian Church, and he survives. Linda was an animal lover, especially cats and dogs. She never met an animal she wouldn’t help. She loved flowers, enjoyed cooking, was known as the “planner of family gatherings”, and was a fashionista. She was jokingly and lovingly called the “Best Dressed Asparagus Picker” in Knox County. Before she was no longer able to attend, she and Phil would attend Community United Methodist Church in Vincennes. She was a homemaker to her family, the property manager of apartments, and secretary for Indiana Employment Security Division. Surviving family includes: her husband- Philip Grounds of Vincennes, IN: one daughter- Kelly Grounds and husband Doug Bishop of Orange City, FL: two grandchildren- Tristen Grounds-Bishop and Miranda Grounds-Bishop: one sister- Janet Ernst of McCutchanville, IN: two sisters-in-law- Virginia Clark and husband John and Helen Gray and husband Shane all of St. Francisville, IL: and one brother-in-law- David Grounds and wife Sarah of Alton, IL. She was preceded in death by: her parents- Arthur and Laverta O’Haver: one sister and her husband- Patricia and Sam Westfall: one brother and his wife- Don and Maggie O’Haver: and one brother-in-law- David Ernst. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am (CST) at the St. Francisville First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11:00 am (CST). Burial will take place in Oaklawn Cemetery. Cunningham Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mrs. Grounds. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society in the care of Linda Collier or to the Masonic Lodge of Vincennes.
