Lisa Kay Wells, age 69, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 02, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born November 29, 1955, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Francis “Slim” Crouch and Aleta Jo Stevenson Crouch.  She married Kelly “Butch” R. Wells Jr on May 23, 1977, and he survives.

Lisa had various jobs in her life, but none compared to her favorite role as being a mom, her main job for 39 years, until she became Granny to Chessie.  She loved so many people, never met a stranger, and truly enjoyed life.  Whether it was flower picking, playing bingo, or celebrating birthdays and holidays, Lisa enjoyed everything she did and always wore a smile on her face while doing it.  She loved hard and with all of her heart. The world has become dimmer without her in it, but her light will shine down forever. One bright spot in this dark time is that Lisa was an organ donor, having signed up after the loss of one of her favorite sprint car drivers Bryan Clauson.  Her selfless gift ultimately gave her family and friends two more days with her and will help save the lives of two people and enhance the lives of up to 75 others. She was the most selfless person in life, so it was only natural for her to be that selfless in her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother David.

Survivors include her husband Kelly, one daughter Samantha Wells of Sumner, Illinois, her grand dog Chessie. One brother-in-law, Kevin Wells and fiancée, Brenda Miller, one sister Cindy Coley, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Christy Township Fire Protection District, Lawrence County Ambulance Service, Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Indiana Donor Network for their care and kindness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 06, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to Claws and Paws Animal Rescue Center or the Christy Township Fire Protection District.
