Louise Whittaker, age 93, of Palestine, Illinois, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 at her residence.
Louise Whittaker, age 93, of Palestine, Illinois, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 at her residence. She was born on November 19, 1930 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Luther and Bonnie (Shank) Stevenson. She was married to Bert Coonce, and he preceded her in death in 1967. She then married James F. Whittaker in 1970, and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Louise was a homemaker, and a member of Central Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, going to Kentucky Lake to fish, watching NASCAR, game shows, and basketball, as well as spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bert; husband, James; four brothers, Warren Stevenson, Leonard Stevenson, Samuel Stevenson, and Harold Stevenson; one sister, Aleta Jo Crouch; and one son, Daniel Whittaker.
Survivors include six children, Kenny Coonce and wife, Alice of Palestine, Illinois, David Whittaker and wife, Linda of St. Francisville, Illinois, Don Whittaker and wife, Barb of Lawrenceville, Illinois, LaDonna Speth and husband, Donnie of Vincennes, Indiana, Kim Haycraft and husband, Roy of Petersburg, Indiana, and Mary Pargin and husband, Pat of Jacksonville, North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 01, 2024 at 1:00 PM CDT at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM CDT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Central Christian Church.
