Margaret Delores “Marti” Lewis, age 65 of Bridgeport, passed away with loved ones by her side on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.
Margaret Delores “Marti” Lewis, age 65 of Bridgeport, passed away with loved ones by her side on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born in Rochelle, France on October 16, 1958, to Anna (Wolford) Fyffe.
In 1993, Marti married Albert “Jake” Lewis in Bridgeport. For 31 years, they worked side-by-side in all they did. Together they worked as EMT’s for Mercy Ambulance Service and Blue Star Ambulance Service, which they operated as owners of for a few years.
Marti had a passion for helping others. She truly enjoyed her emergency medical work. She also enjoyed running two floral shops, The Flower Basket in Bridgeport and Awesome Blossom in Lawrenceville. When she had time, she liked to go fishing, camping at Trago Lake, and playing computer games.
Surviving family includes: her husband- Albert “Jake” Lewis of Bridgeport, IL: three children- Crystal Stine and Brent Lamb of Claremont, IL; Willie Lewis and wife Susan of Vincennes, IN; and Elizabeth Lewis of Bridgeport, IL: six grandchildren- Cassie Shoulders of Lawrenceville, IL; Michael Stine of Lawrenceville, IL; Dawn Marie Lamb of Dundas, IL; Bill Lewis of Birds, IL; Olivia Lewis and Elizabeth both of Vincennes, IN: one great-grandchild- Serenity Frye of Lawrenceville, IL: and one brother- Billy McDonald of Maryland.
She was preceded in death by: her mother and step-father- Anna and Stanley Fyffe: two sisters- Judy Bryan and Mary McDonald: and one grandson- Dalton Tate.
There are no services currently planned. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport is assisting Marti’s family during their time of loss.
