On Sunday, October 27, 2024, heaven gained a beautiful soul. Margaret L. “Marge” Lockhart passed away at the age of 96 years.
Marge was born on December 3, 1927, in Vincennes, IN to John Frank Fleck and his wife Mary Margaret (Primus) Fleck. She was the last remaining child of a family of 17 children. Her siblings that preceded her in death were Herman Michael Fleck, Irene Elizabeth Kroeger, Louis Ignaz Fleck, Lucille Marie Yochum, Cletus Joseph Fleck, Leon Meinard Fleck, John Walter Fleck, Eugene Clarence Fleck, Vincent Leo Fleck, Pauline Louise Recker, Mary Frances Dunham, Robert Raymond Fleck, Norma Ruth Theriac, Dorothy Ann Gaines, Richard Anthony Fleck, and Bernard Fleck.
On September 20, 1947, Marge married Percy W. Lockart at the Old Cathedral Catholic Church in Vincennes, IN. Together, they raised their 12 children on the family farm over a span of 50 years. They enjoyed their lives together and created memories that can never be replaced or forgotten from living life on the farm. They grieved the loss of a husband and a father in September of 1997, when Percy passed away. Marge, being the strong woman that she was, forged forward with this family always seeking out the very best for all of them. These children were raised with the utmost determination, drive, and work ethic that would serve them well throughout their careers and entire lives.
In her youth, marge grew up attending the St. Thomas Catholic Church and some years later, became a devout member of The Old Cathedral Church in Vincennes where she faithfully attended until she was no longer able. Marge has always had the greatest love for her church and was deeply dedicated in her faith.
She was a devoted homemaker to her children, as well as a caregiver to many of her 20 grands. She was also a former member of the Women of the Moose and the Lawrence County Farm Bureau. When she was not working at the local Candlelite Restaurant, she became a fixture at most sporting events in Lawrenceville watching her children and their children participate for many years. At 90+ years, she still loved being outdoors, working in her garden, planting flowers, mushroom hunting, fishing, and cooking. Many of her grandkids’ fondest childhood memories came from time spent with Grandma Marge.
What a beautiful legacy… “She is clothed with STRENGTH and dignity, she speaks with wisdom and does not eat the bread of idleness; Her children rise up and call her BLESSED; Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31: 25-31
